For those that havent seen her yet: This is Talia, the girl the online auction is all about! You see, Talia has many tumors in her ears, both ears. This is due to chronic ear infections that were either never treated or just not treatable. She ended up as a stray in a shelter. She needs what is called : Ear Canal Ablation (TECA). The term Total Ear Canal Ablation or TECA is used to describe a procedure used to manage severe canal or middle ear disease in dogs where other methods of treatment have failed.Dogs that have had long-standing ear infections may develop irreversible damage to the ear canal. About 50% of the dogs that have chronic ear infections have a ruptured ear drum and infection in the middle ear The operation involves the removal of the entire ear canal. This surgery has a 90% success rate, and at this point it is the only thing that can not only help restore her hearing but stop the painful chronic ear infections and flair ups. It does come at a high price: about $3500.00. Mississippi State Vet School will be doing it, and we know she will be in great hands. So please: share her story.
