For those who are close to me... I finally figured out what it is that has been causing Sherman to be so sick. After much research, I learned that he is afflicted with LP (essentially a paralysis of the throat) While it is good news to know that is going on, the very bad news is that LP does not take its victims out kindly. The net result (if left to its own) is that the animal will die from lack of oxygen or suffocate. The treatment options are really only surgery though there are about 4 different ones to chose from. Given the very high risk of complications and the pain/struggle of recovery from this coupled with Shermans advanced age and deterioted condition, I will not opt for this for him. This means it is up to me to say when he has had enough. Everyone says that I will just know but I do not feel that I will know. He struggles multiple times a day with his breathing but he still goes out and chases that damn fat rabbit that hangs outside of our door (for about 10 feet) and he still has little bright button eyes of happiness when he sees me at the end of my work day. I am opting for a lot of quiet and alone time with him for the past 2 weeks (since I learned) and am struggling quite a bit inside with the enormous weight of having to decide when it is time to put down my little best buddy in order to avoid his dying from suffication and fear. So if I am dark lately or unable to make your needs a priority, please understand that it has nothing to do with you. I still love the world and all of you, I am just a bit hurt right now.
