For those who continue to think Im Mr Happy all the time and never - TopicsExpress

For those who continue to think Im Mr Happy all the time and never have to face difficult issues because I live in a land full of rainbows and crocks of gold, heres a letter sent this morning to a client. As Ive said on a few occasions, the point is not to avoid problems but to resolve them. :) *** Dear XXX Thanks for your message yesterday. However, Im afraid I cant accept yet another vague promise of payment in a few days. This payment is already 20 days overdue, and thats after a 60-day payment period which is in itself pretty generous in my 5 years of experience. Thats nearly a quarter of a year. I fail to see why I should take out an overdraft at considerable cost to myself, not only in financial terms but in terms of stress and time. Its up to you to manage your finances and honour your commitments, just as I delivered the work on time and to the required standard. I also run a company and work with several direct clients, as well as 20 outsourcers. I pay their bills within 48 hours and always have done. I therefore regret to inform you that if I dont receive the balance of Decembers bill by Monday next week, I will be contacting the debt recovery company I have had occasion to use only once in the past, but with swift and effective results. Januarys bill also falls due at the end of next week. Im sorry it has to come to this, but you leave me with no option. It also means of course that I will be unable to continue working with ZZZ in future. My relationships with my many clients are based on mutual respect. In this case, it seems to have become rather one-way recently and I cannot accept that any more. Perhaps it will suit you to find a more compliant replacement for me. Best wishes Andrew
