For those who dont know what ALS is (I hope that very few people apply), I would like to redirect you to the National Library of Medicines article on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001708/ Its very easy to get caught up in the ALS Ice Bucket Hype, so I want to refocus, and at least say what my reasons are for accepting Eric Yus nomination: I want the publicity of this neurodegenerative disease to continuously grow. I want there to be a never-ending supply of donations and allow this decade to champion the status of being the Genetic-Master, discontinuing the idea of neurodegenerative diseases. I encourage you to join me and my family in donating to ALSA at bit.ly/N6jO1P. Also, one tends to take for granted modern amenities, such as clean water. According to a NY Times article by Gardiner Harris, 600,000 children in India die because of diseases related to contaminated water; the story gets worse as we move into countries in Africa. Between 4 people, we each had to do the Ice Bucket Challenge twice because of a video error on my phone. I imagine a world where clean water is available to everyone, and Charity:Water is setting up that possibility. (Thanks to Matthew Feng for information about Charity:Water) I would finally like to request that you join me in donating at least $10.00 to allow one buckets worth of water to be provided to those in need. Once again, thank you to Eric for nominating me, Jessica Kaushal, Kavya Arvind, and Nav Saini, you have 24 hours! Depak Borhara has also been honorarily challenged, now Jessica has no excuse! EDIT: Huge shout-out to three of my best friends, Evan Stack, David Mourlam, and Ruben Luna for joining me in this cold challenge!
