For those who have been wondering I have finished my treatments and the final score is Sandy 1, CA 0, at least for the time being. From the final scan on August 28th the Radio Active Iodine appears to be in the right place and doing its job. Being back on my thyroid medication is good but the effects of being off of it did a real job on my body and mind. I can see why my sister Christine Sutka says she will not do this again, If I had a choice neither would I. You just dont understand when they say dry mouth and loss of salivary gland production. Dry mouth, wow that is an understatement and no saliva, well food taste like metallic mush, especially bread. I am still eating soft food and soups and my taste buds are starting to come back, but my salivary glands are still not working and well it is a real pain. But I am told with time all will be well. Could be months to a year before they start working again. But dont fret for me, I find that I still eat even if it tastes terrible. LOL I am still very lethargic during the day but the endocrinologist says that is normal and will go away. They wont even check my thyroid hormone levels until November 19th, because it takes at least 6-8 weeks for the medication to get my hormone levels back to what is to be a normal level for someone with CA as they want to keep the levels at a suppression level. But you dont care about that. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still here and doing so much better and should be going back to work in October. Love and peace to you all. Take care
