For those who want to blame the Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives for the government shutdown, keep in mind that the last time that the Democratic led U.S. Senate adopted a budget resolution or that the Majority even brought a budget plan to the floor of the U.S. Senate was April 29, 2009... The Republican led House of Representatives has passed a number of budget proposals in that time, all of which have been rejected by the Senate... Even the Budget Proposals put forth by President Obama have been rejected by the Democratic led U.S. Senate. If just one budget had been passed by the Senate in the past four years, this whole shut-down fiasco would not even have been an issue as it is a result of a continuing resolution to fund the government in the ABSENCE of a passed Federal Budget that resulted in the shut down. So... in blaming the Republican led U.S. House of Representatives (which passed a number of continuing resolutions to fund governmet over the past few days alone) for the shutdown.. you are in fact pointing a finger at the only part of Congress which has PASSED any budgetary proposals, resolutions or budgets in the past four years and ignoring the U.S. Senate which has not passed ONE funding bill in that same amount of time.
