For your delectation: This was actually very interesting, and reminded me of a particular monastery I visited in Tibet. The monks there explained that one of the statues within the main hall (one that clearly didnt have Eastern features) was supposed to represent a traveler who visited Tibet from the West between the ages of 13 and 30; the assumption being that this visit explains the Lost Years within the gospels of Matthew and Luke. It would, interestingly enough, explain how several New Testament teachings resemble those found in older, Eastern traditions (in some cases, lifted almost word-for-word)... The Golden Rule being but an example (compare to Confucius saying some 500 years earlier).
