Forecast for Monday 20th October 14 Risk of Severe Weather: Low, Locally Moderate. Significant Weather: Heavy Showers/Rain. Winds: W or SW moderate or fresh, locally strong across N and W Scotland. Summary: A mostly cloudy start to the day is expected across Scotland, Ireland, N England and Wales with showers or longer spells of rain. A more significant region of rain is expected to move into N England within the next few hours, and perhaps N Wales, bringing a spell of persistent rain with some locally heavy rain possible for a time. For many central and southern areas of England it is a mainly dry start to the day with some bright or sunny spells. Throughout the remainder of Monday the W or SW’ly wind will bring mostly cloudy conditions to Scotland, Ireland, N England and Wales with the risk of some scattered showers at times, despite a lot of dry weather too. More persistent rain is expected across NW Scotland however and by the evening a strengthening SW’ly wind will herald some heavy rain into W Scotland and Ireland. For many central and southern areas of England and especially SE England it is expected to be a predominantly dry day apart from a few isolated showers. Some bright or sunny spells are to be expected and whilst cooler and fresher than the last few days it will still be relatively mild. Temperatures today are expected to range between 11°C and 15°C across Scotland, Ireland and N England and between 13°C and 17°C across more central and southern areas of England. Chief Forecaster: MH
