Weather Situation A monsoon trough extends from a low over the far northern parts of Western Australia, through Gulf of Carpentaria waters, and then to a developing low near the Solomon Islands. The low near the Solomon Islands has some possibility of developing into a tropical cyclone during the forecast period but is expected to move in a general southwards direction, remaining well offshore of the east Queensland coast. A high over the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. The high should weaken late in the week, relaxing the ridge. A weak upper level low will move slowly westwards from the Coral Sea into the Capricornia district today and then become slow moving.
