Forecasters say rain, thunderstorms and a flood watch will kick - TopicsExpress

Forecasters say rain, thunderstorms and a flood watch will kick off the work week in Camden County. A flash flood watch covering the entire region is in effect through this evening, the National Weather Service says. Another round of heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the area this morning and continue through the night, potentiallly into early Tuesday, according to the weather service. In areas under the flash flood warning, rain was falling at a rate of two inches per hour this morning. After the region was repeatedly soaked by storms last week -- leading to the rainiest June ever in Camden County -- it will take just about an inch of rain to produce flash flooding. The weather service says urban areas, poor-drainage areas and basements are all at risk for floods, as are some streams. "Given the rather wet month of June experienced across most of the area and the potential for repeated and focused heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms, this could be a locally serious situation," especially along small streams and other low-lying areas, a weather service forecast discussion says. The temperature is expected to reach 86 degrees today. Content courtesy of philly.
