Forgive Lets walk a mile in Jesus shoes Or would you just refrain? Can you feel His deepest bruise Or stand to bear His pain? Youre shackled at the whipping post To take the thirty-nine This is where you love the most Or have we crossed the line Would you wear His heavy load? That weight across your back Could you walk that lonely road Subjected to attack? Feel the ache of breaking bone While falling to your knees Who’d dare be first to cast their stone Could you have friends like these? Can you feel the mighty wind Or do you hear His cry? The searing pain each spike would send That hammer passing by The crown of twisted thorn displayed Blood dripping from your brow As your time begins to fade You’re still alive, somehow The rugged cross begins to lift It jars into the dirt When all your weight begins to shift Could you with stand that hurt You’re all but naked on this day They’re casting now each lot They mock you, then they turn away Are these your friends or what? A spear has opened up your side Your answer comes too late The sting of death can’t be denied But was it love or hate? Could you look them in the eyes Before your life is through? Can you come to realize What would Jesus do? Written by our brother in Christ, Bob Purdue
