Forgive me if I already mentioned this but as a little boy I remember going in to the lobby of what back then was known as the Flying A service station which believe it or not was a big deal for me way back then. I remember how the attendants wore very nice uniforms capped off with the then traditional police like hats. But what I remember most was inside the lobby was a beautiful red horse complete with wings and how the attendant with a huge friendly smile would pick me up and sit me on and then put a coin in the horse so I could ride. I looked for another for years but have never seen one except for this photo. Funny that a service station could hold such wonderful memories but because it was a daily event for all of us from that era there are many such memories, including stamps, contest, steak knives, jams and jellies, and more and dont forget windows washed all the way around, tires checked, oil checked and always with a warm smile.
