Forgiveness is a choice, but it is Gods work in us. We choose to forgive right away if we are Christs but the pain still remains. We must allow Him to workout His salvation in us. He wants us to forgive like Him. But we are all being transformed into his image by the spirit of the Lord. Transformation is a process and ao is forgiveness. In essence saying, "Since I love you I choose not to reject you and i choose to allow Gods mercy to fill my heart toward you so that eventually ill feel as if it never even happened. If you were Christ then youd be able to wash it to the sea of forgetfullness. But if youre not...lol...being that theres only one God Man and savior, then forgiving is a choice and a process. If you dont feel like you have forgiven someone,but inside you genuinely mase te choice to forgive and just cany seem to get past yhe hurt they caused, then ask God to show you first a vivid picture of the wickedness He has forgiven you for. And also ask that he would fill you with His merciful ability to forgive people instantly without begrudgingly reminding them of what they did to you over and over. He will do it but you have to wamt to LOVE and FORGIVE just as Jesus did. And remember forgiveness comes..."not by power, nor by might, but by My Spirit saith the Lord." :-D
