Forgiveness is, and has been a constant topic in my life, as well - TopicsExpress

Forgiveness is, and has been a constant topic in my life, as well as in discussions with others as of late. We dont realize how much we want to hold on to a wrong in order to justify our wanting others to understand the depth of our hurt. Yet holding on to the hurt and nursing it and rehearsing the event that caused us pain can lead to bitterness in us and effect our daily lives. I find it hard to let go of unforgiven essential because I sometimes feel it is if I am having to say goodbye to the only friend who really got how bad I was hurt, the only one who really understood me, and the only one who was in my corner. Really? That isnt what Gods word says now is it? I have often been faced with the Holy Spirit showing me where I am failing to put into practice what Gods word says. Oh miserable man that I am! Living for Jesus doesnt mean we have arrived at some super dupper state of spiritual existence in which we can then use His Word to beat everyone else over the head with for their imperfections, moral failings, wrong thinking or wrong doing towards us. It (His Word,) is used to cut away at our own flesh and wrong thoughts, thus bringing us into right thinking and doing, and letting him deal with the next persons heart as we forgive them. That is painful! When we give Jesus permission to be more than our Savior, and surrender our will and allow him to be Lord, he starts working on us, not so much the neighbor or loved one or the person who wronged us. Picking up our cross and following him has not been easy for me, I admit it. Yet, I am learning that surrender is an ongoing process and he challenges me everyday to turn something over to him. Ohhh what freedom when we do. Like that little song goes, Hes still working on me, Hes still working on me, Im not the man that I was meant to be, but hes still working on me. Thank you Jesus for not giving up on me.
