Former Jackson Valley Road bridge site in Washington NJ, - TopicsExpress

Former Jackson Valley Road bridge site in Washington NJ, Metrotrails hike. This bridge was torn out in the mid 1980s. My grandfather walked me over it when I was five years old, and I remember it vividly. The right of way is state park land for some distance on the other side, and to behind the high school on the side we are sitting on. This right of way should be made a formal trail out toward former Warren Lumber, but more importantly, I propose CONNECTING across the right of way a paved walking path from the Police Station to the High School Football field. Bollards could be placed as vehicle barriers at either end. More parking could be used in the fields at the police station, and lighted bollards on a route such as this would provide safe passage and convenience for the already overfull high school lots. Furthermore, bollards could be quickly removed by police should security become an issue. With the station right there, they would no longer have to make the trip up to the Jackson Valley Road light, turn left and come back to the school. They could use this authorized only access, and it could save a life. Multi purpose trail for public safety, recreation, and convenience. As Chairman of the Warren County Board of Recreation, I feel this would be one of the best potential development candidates in the area.
