Former Mormon Tom Phillips has quite a few complaints about his former religion, levying allegations that seven key Mormon claims are demonstrably false. Among his allegations are that the Book of Mormon, said to be translated from ancient gold plates by church founder Joseph Smith, is false. Phillips went as far to implicate LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson in his allegations, accusing Monson of fraud related to elements of Mormon teachings. Phillips filed a suit against Monson in a British court and although the church leader was summoned to appear in late January for the hearing of Phillips argument Friday, he didnt show up. Now, a British judge has to decide by Thursday whether the fraud case will proceed.
