Former NFL quarterback and Seattle sports talk show host, Brock Huard was speaking about an experience last weekend at his 5th grade daughter’s basketball tournament… Fans and coaches from the opposing team continually harassed the referees until the coach received two technical fouls and was removed from the gym. At that point the parents from that team came down and stood on the sideline and yelled, challenged and threatened the officials for the remainder of the game. Lot more going on here but if you are a 10/11 year old athlete, you are either embarrassed, scared or see it as acceptable behavior – all completely WRONG. When did this become an acceptable part of youth sport? It is time for the 95% of great parents who see the big picture to take charge.
