Former Saratoga High School football, the legendary Benny Pierce, was recently named to the Los Gatos High School Athletic Hall of Fame. See the story that appeared in the Los Gatos Weekly-Times. Pierce, Fees top list of Hall of Fame inductees There is no football coach in the history of the Central Coast Section with more victories than Benny Pierce. In his 33 years as the head coach at Saratoga High School, his Falcons won 270 games. They posted 31 winning seasons in those 33 years, claiming 16 league championships, a county title and four Central Coast Section crowns. But long before Pierce was a Falcon, he was a Wildcat. And it’s for what he did as an athlete at Los Gatos High School, not as a coach at Saratoga, that he is being recognized this year. Benny Pierce is one of 10 former Wildcats being targeted for induction in the Los Gatos High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Pierce, a 1951 Gatos graduate, earned 12 block letters as a four-sport athlete for the Wildcats, winning all-league recognition in football, basketball and baseball and placing at the league finals in track and field. For his efforts, Pierce is a member of the 11th class of Los Gatos Hall of Fame inductees that also includes Everett “Ebbie” Fees (class of 1939), Wayne Hopp (1970), Monica Daley Townsend (1986), Jason Drotar (1989), Nicole Tremain (1990), Mike Warren (1993), Jason Carlton (1994), Bobby Crowder (2001) and Heather Hennessy (2001). mercurynews/los-gatos/ci_23950292/editorial-pierce-fees-top-list-hall-fame-inductees
