Former Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Nathan Stanley is currently thriving as a member of the Arena Football League’s San Jose SaberCats. Through four games, Stanley, who played for the Lions in 2011-12 after transferring from Ole Miss, has completed 52 of 82 passes for 598 yards. The Tahlequah, Okla. native has thrown 14 touchdowns versus just four interceptions. Stanley made his first start on March 23 in San Jose’s 70-33 victory over the Philadelphia Soul. He led the SaberCats to victory by completing 18 of 28 passes for 249 yards and six touchdowns. He came back the next week with five touchdown passes and 260 passing yards on 26-of-40 passing versus the Pittsburgh Power. After playing sparingly in his junior season, Stanley took over the starter in 2012 under then-first year head coach Ron Roberts. Stanley helped the Lions to a 5-2 Southland Conference record, throwing for 1,952 yards and nine touchdowns as senior. Stanley and the SaberCats will be back in action on Saturday, hosting the Arizona Rattlers at 7 p.m.
