Former couple Stan and Sylvie Carter will grow closer again on EastEnders in the New Year as they both attend a 1950s event. Stan (Timothy West) asks his on-off partner Cora Cross to accompany him to the themed party at the community centre, but his daughter Tina inadvertently sparks trouble by bringing Sylvie along too. Cora is naturally unhappy to see Stans ex following their previous tension and Sylvie (Linda Marlowe) soon goes missing amid the confusion. Fortunately, Dean Wicks finds Sylvie alone on Albert Square before she comes to any harm, leaving everyone relieved when he brings her back to her family at the party. Back in a confused state, Sylvie initially believes that Dean is Stan but when Unforgettable by Nat King Cole starts to play, she suddenly recognises her ex-husband. Seizing the moment, Stan and Sylvie go on to dance together and share an unexpected kiss. While its been an emotional moment for the ex-couple, Stan is brought back down to earth the next day when Shirley, Tina and Aunt Babe suggest that Sylvie should move into a care home following her disappearing act the night before. Unhappy when the consensus is that Sylvie does need round-the-clock care, Stan is left to drown his sorrows. EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday January 12, Tuesday January 13 and Thursday January 15 on BBC One.
