Former minister Rajagopal Reddy passes away Hyderabad: Former minister R. Rajagopal Reddy died of heart attack in the early hours on Wednesday. He was 85 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. The senior Congress leader, who hails from Kadapa district, was rushed to SVIMS hospital at Tirupati, after he complained of severe chest pain on Monday. His family members said the body would be cremated at an agricultural field owned by him in his native village Reddivaripalle in Lakkireddipally mandal. Born on October 20, 1933, Rajagopal Reddy completed his engineering education. In 1962, he embraced active politics and emerged as a senior Congress leader in the district. He was elected as an MLA five times since 1967. He was associated with Congress, Janata Party and TDP. He has served in the state cabinets of P.V. Narasimha Rao and N.T. Rama Rao. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed his grief at Reddy’s sudden demise and conveyed his sympathies to his bereaved family.
