Fort House is a charming little hotel by the water-front in Fort Kochi (Kochi, Kerala), not that there is dearth of charming hotels in this vintage quarter of Kochi! But you have to hand it over to the team for keeping it simple. The rooms are pleasant nothing luxurious, the courtyard nice and green with trees, the food is really good (fortunately most hotels tend to get this right), the attention is very comforting and the place is easy on the pocket too. The show-stealer though is the water-front restaurant set out on a little pier that juts out into the sea. The ambience in the evenings with the candle light on tables, the lights fencing the pier and the steady breeze... ahhh, it makes for a fantastic setting for a long and unwinding meal.
