Fortunately only a small percentage of men abuse women or engage in violence. Education as we all know is the key for a civil world BUT despite school education there is a need for something that starts at home. WOMEN yes women as mothers and men as fathers must educate their children from early age not to hurt girls or even boys of their or any age. Most abusers abuse as they repeat what they have seen at home earlier. Our educational systems are very rudimentary and never teach the basics of humanity but we can not change that easily. The most important step men and women who have seen abuse at home is to do something for others who may undergo such abuse or they can educate their children to discipline and teach them that real boys protect all children and women and weaker people. Many children when over punished or taught through punishment and abuse turn out to be abusers later. Another important thing is for all responsible societies to adapt fatherless children so that they dont grow bully. Saddam Hussain of Iraq - lost his father when he was a child and he grew out to be a bully - also because of his uncle whose influence was negative but in so many studies done world wide, we find that children without fathers lack love and protection and they lose sense of security and out of insecurity some of them when grown ups can become bullies. However many such children become great fathers but many end up as abusers. Ultimately it is not the education but the people who bring about a child - who are responsible for childs growth if he will grow as a kind, compassionate being or a bully and engage in treating others poorly. Having said, on other hand, we need NGOs or organizations on village and city level, that train and re-train, re-orient women who find themselves abused, on how to be stronger, assertive and face the violent men. It is easy to say all this but unless we train these meek or weak women who are the victims - nothing is going to change. JUST Because some of us write or speak it is not going to work. In the United States in most urban areas NGOs and cities have battered womens shelters - where women are given training on how to deal with such violent men. In some cases some extreme feminist kind of shelter providers create hatred for men - which is also wrong. We need to have a program worldwide - that speaks with local social service volunteers and cities administrations that they organize 2/3 days or one day events where formal classes or seminars are provided to women who have been abused often or are in danger of being abused. This will bring about awareness and change.
