Forum to feature entrepreneur Wednesday, August 14, 2013 MANCHESTER —The NH High Tech Council has announced its first Bio/Medical Forum since forming an alliance with the former NH Bio/Medical Council. Earlier this year, the Council introduced this new industry cluster and plans to host a series of forum events to serve the Bio/Medical sector throughout New Hampshire. The inaugural event will take place at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye on Wednesday, August 28, from 6 to 8 pm and features networking opportunities, light hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Gregg Fairbrothers, a well-known entrepreneur who founded the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network, will be the keynote speaker. Besides being the Founding Director of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network, Fairbrothers is a Professor of Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business, and Founding Chair of the Dartmouth Regional Technology Center. He will talk about innovation at Dartmouth’s small business incubator, the only bio/medical technology center for startups in the state of New Hampshire. Everyone is welcome to join to learn more about the industry, network, and make new contacts. “The Council understood that the need to continue to support the bio/medical industry in New Hampshire was and is extremely important,” said Council Chair Paul Mailhot. “We are very excited to see this new division of the Council take shape. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Bio/Medical committee co-chairs Catherine Blake and Paula Newton, the vacancy left after the dissolution of the NHBC will now be filled with a very active and highly participative group of people with great ideas.” The Bio/Medical Forum plans to roll out a series of events focused on relevant industry trends, challenges, and ideas, including a “Think & Drink” series where a panel of experts speaks in a dynamically facilitated forum and the audience can participate with questions, comments, and ideas. In addition, they plan to host “Field Trip & Cocktails” when a company can provide an educational talk and tour followed by a networking reception. The Council’s Bio/Medical Forum kicked off this summer by appointing an executive advisory board, which held its first meeting at Medtronic Advanced Energy. Registration for the forum is required.
