Fostering the kittens you find… At yesterday’s class, an important question was asked “who will take the kittens we find?” Ah, there is the challenge… because most of the time, the answer is “you”. The CCC first began because there was SUCH an overwhelming need for people to do trapping. No organization in our area had a way to connect or actively help people who were trapping – yet most organizations would call on the few people they knew who did trapping… Those of us who have been involved in TNR for years knew it was essential not only to teach people how to do TNR, but help them in any way we could. So – when you as a trapper end up with kittens (or friendly cats in need of a home), how can we help? To help our rescuers be able to find homes for those they rescue, the CCC has established: • Vouchers to cover the costs of spay/neuter, vaccinations, viral testing¸ flea and worm meds. • A virtual vet service to help walk you through common problems and help you understand how to care for your rescues • Access to vet approved medications for those fosters • Some assistance with medical treatment • A network of rescuers to use as mentors • Establishment of a Petfinder posting site to “show” your fosters • Adoption events where independent rescuers can find homes for those fosters • Limited access to placement in a store setting We say it all the time – the community cats ARE the community’s cats. When a member of our community rescues a community cat, we want to help. Yes – ultimately, it is your responsibility. We THANK YOU for accepting that responsibility, and we want to help as we are able. We are a community within our community, and we thank you for joining us. Together, we are making a difference – one cat at a time.
