Found myself getting emotional on my trek downtown. Passing through myriad neighborhoods from 231st, the Bronx to 86th and 5th, my eyes were open. I wanted to see each neighborhood, vital and individual, each one a universe bleeding into the next, creating a vast, wildly colored musical mosaic that spread across the whole spectrum. Their vibrancies emanated idiosyncratically, definitively, epic and small, quiet and loud....when this tune started going through my head, and it hadnt been there to my knowledge for decades. It began soft, then louder and louder, this tune played in my head. It brought strange, sudden tears to my eyes.
