Founded in 1866 by German immigrant Louis Gebhard, the Gebhard Brewery is located in Morris, IL. The hops and barley used for the beer was transported via the nearby I&M Canal. By the 1870s the brewery used almost a third of all corn grown in Grundy County. The Brewery closed with Prohibition in 1919 and was converted into a flour mill. Located at 650 West Washington Street in Morris, it is now owned by Casa Holdings, Inc. and is being secured, stabilized and cleaned up. It will be repurposed in the future according to their Facebook page.
