Four Reasons to Make Water Your Beverage of Choice (for the rest of your life)! Part 3 of 4 There’s just about one week left in Save a Drink, Save a Life. So far, I have shared with you two of four reasons why making water your beverage of choice beyond April 19, 2014, is a great idea. Here is reason three. (Tune in the next Thursday for the final reason). #3) Your ethics One of the very sad things in this world is that Africa is suffering from land grabbing. In case you haven’t heard the term before, land grabbing is when foreign investors buy third world country land and force out the current population, communal land (food for the village) and even burn their crops and homes. The people have no choice. They have to go, but where? It’s such a devastating situation. These land grabs are from the very companies you most likely buy drinks from. As believers, I believe we have a great responsibility with how we spend our money in terms of what products we buy. It can either go to support the local communities and fair trade products or unethical companies. When we make the mission of Blood:Water and clean water a daily focus, change will happen. We cannot address the needs of Africa unless we are willing to take a look at how we are contributing to and perpetuating the problem by the very products we buy, eat, and drink.
