Four years ago I let a homeless brother in Christ named L.T. sleep - TopicsExpress

Four years ago I let a homeless brother in Christ named L.T. sleep on a couch in the basement of a Christian community house. From 3-6AM I slept on the floor next to him while he found some rest away from the bench down the street. I lacked submission to authority & learned some valuable lessons through being admonished. I developed a few life-long friendships as a result that Im eternally grateful for. But most of all sadly I learned that safety is sometimes emphasized to the negligence of sacrificial love and mercy even in the Church. Why am I processing all of this now? Because L.T. is still out there on nearly every street corner of this city and I miss that youthful zeal that understood Isaiah 58 and lived by it. The fact that this story (four years later) still gets airtime in conversation is cool, but it also breaks my heart because I wish I lived with an unlocked life more than I do. I pray that my life could be a dusty old couch for someone to hear and know Gods love for them as they rest. I pray for His Church because I know theres more cups of water to be given out in His name. I pray because I cannot even begin to fathom tackling one ounce of the brokenness and injustice in this world without spending time with the only One who can restore it all. God, break our hearts for what breaks yours. #reminded #humbled #YouMoveIwillFollow
