Fourteen Karwa chauth fasts today - together. Yes He observes it along with me every year. Why do I keep my fast for my husband? Here are some reasons - 1. He has filled the void to an admirable extent left by my parents. 2. He fills up for the lack of a large family that I do not have the privilege of having, since I am the only child. 3. He is my soul mate in the truest sense of the word. 4. He has been and is my best friend for all times to come. 5. He respects me, trusts me and loves me unconditionally. 6. He has always created an environment in which I can blossom and retain my individuality. 7. He knows my weaknesses, criticizes me when necessary yet stands by me despite all my warts. 8. He believes in the inherent goodness that may reside in me. 9. He is the perfect foil to my personality, complementing me in all respects. 10. He is my 4 AM friend and a partner for all seasons. BONUS reason - He has liked me at my shabbiest, fattest stages finding me lovely in even those drab times. He has been keeping the fast for me - without any compulsion or blackmailing and with love and sincerity regardless of tours, travels and work pressures. I hope I have given him as many reasons to do so. May God give everybody a husband like HIM. #feelingblessed.
