Fourth World Poetry Canada International Peace festival Display of Peace posters by Sattar Saberi and display peace poems! He will be at the festival with his family and also will read a poem from the noted Afghan Poetess who was featured last year in the film.This is the fourth year that Sattar has lent our festival his posters. Fifteen of his Peace Posters were chosen for display by the public at the UBC Learning Exchange on Main Street. For viewing, go in tomorrow, Friday and ask for a tour. Biography A. Sattar Saberi was born in October 1966 in the district of Chahar Dehi in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. In 1984, he graduated from Art School. In 1988, he started working for the Afghanistan National Television Station and entered Kabul University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Literature. After graduation in 1993, he set out for Iran to continue his education in the field of art. He later returned to Afghanistan and worked at the Afghanistan National TV Station as a cartoonist. He also cooperated with two major newspapers: Bakhtar and Anees, writing articles and drawing cartoons and caricatures. However, by the end of 1997, he returned to Iran and in 2002 immigrated to Canada where he graduated from Vancouver Media Art Institute’s Second Animation in 2004. Four years later, he received his diploma in Computer Graphic Design from Vancouver Career College and has held three art exhibitions of his paintings and anti-war posters in Vancouver. Mr. Saberi is a cartoonist and a story writer and a member of the Canadian Authors Association in Vancouver BC. He has written a few other books which are currently being considered for publication in Canada. These titles include, The Wandering Waves, Alien Man, Eagle of Good Fortune, and The Crow and Carnival among other youth and children’s stories. Sattar has shown his peace posters at three previous World Poetry Canada International Peace Festivals and will once again have his selected work shown at the UBC Learning Exchange during the month of October. He received a World Poetry Empowered Artist’s Award in 2013.
