Fox & Weeks is privileged to serve the family and loved ones of Joey Stephen Durden, 53, of Richmond, Virginia, who died on May 20 at his home in the arms of his loving wife, Christina. Joey was born in Savannah, Georgia, on in 1960, and though he traveled the world, later settling in Virginia, he always called Savannah his home. Joey graduated from Pathway Day School in 1977. He joined the United States Navy in 1981 and served his country from 1981 to 1985. He traveled around the world on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier, during which time he met and fell in love with his wife. He later opened his own business, Quicksilver Transport & Delivery, which he thoroughly enjoyed up to his final day. Joey had a quick wit, loved cooking and food, and was happiest spending time with his family and his grandson. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christina Mitchell Durden of Los Angeles, California; one daughter, Brittany Durden (Jae Warren) of Richmond, Virginia; and one grandson, Jaeden Ray Warren of Richmond, Virginia; his parents, David R. Durden and LaTrelle C. Durden of Savannah; one brother, Michael D. Durden of Savannah, Georgia; and three nieces. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at the Fox & Weeks Island Chapel. Contributions may be made to the Alee Temple Morris Slotin Fund or a charity of your choice.
