Foxconn Working on Mobile Games You cant make this stuff up. Foxconn, the company best known for bad press related to the way it treats its factory workers (who assemble products from Apple and other technology giants in the world) will soon be making mobile games. According to a report on Bloomberg detailing a meeting with media last week in Taiwan, Foxconn chairman Terry Gou said that company is looking to move away from contract manufacturing for large companies such as Apple and towards products and services of higher-value. Gou said the company is currently developing several mobile titles and the first one will be released in six months. The unnamed game is being developed in conjunction with Transformers Online and Dungeon Keeper Online studio NetDragon. He also announced the company has put together a team to work on HTML5-releated projects. Foxconn hopes that will shake off its bad reputation related to its current business model - cheap manufacturing labor. The company has been the subject of multiple controversies related to the way it treats workers in China. In 2010, Foxconn reported 18 suicide attempts from its employees, 14 of which resulted in death. These suicides were the result of employees being forced to work long hours in inhuman conditions for low pay, according to reports. The company manufactures products for some of the biggest names in the tech industry including Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, and Nintendo.
