One which will satisfy a “Bucket List” item for me. We at Greater Union Baptist Church will be celebrating our 97th Church Anniversary on Sunday, August 25, 2013, and I’m running for Mrs. Greater Union Baptist Church. To begin, I must share that my Mother, Marie Leslie Waters, was a contestant for the Mrs. Greater Union Baptist Title in 1964 as we celebrated their 49th Church Anniversary. She came in as First Runner-Up. (I have her plague on my hall wall of memories). I want to take up the gauntlet and win this contest in honor of my Mother. I need your support financially to make this happen. I have a plan to raise funds which will determine the winner of the contest. The plan is to have three (3) raffle drawings. The participants/ donors are not required to be present to win! How simple is that?! Winning tickets will be drawn at a public outing at the Mansion House Apartment Community Room, 1638 S. Carson Ave., Tulsa, Ok., on August 12, 2013. The Raffles items are and cost of donations: 1. $100.00 Gift Card @ $5.00 each 2. Kindle Nook 7” Tablet PC Multi-touch, 512MB DDR3 RAM, 4GB Storage, WiFi enabled, preloaded apps & more @ $10.00 each. 3. A VERY special red/white/and blue Lap Cover crocheted by me. (my mother taught me this art many years ago.) @$2.50 each for one chance/ $5.00 for three chances/ or $10.00 for six chances. The Crowning of the “Mr. And Mrs. Greater Union Baptist” will be held on August 25, 2013 at the Tulsa Downtown Doubletree Hotel at a formal Dinner and Special Anniversary Program. I will also be one of five Speakers of the hour this year.
