Fraudulent tax filings are on the increase! If your tax advisor has informed you your social security number was used to fraudulently file taxes in your name there are several things you should do to protect yourself. 1.) Alert your bank immediately. 2.) Pull a credit report. 3.) Review your bank statements and credit card statements closely 4.) Review your mail for loans, credit cards or other accounts fraudulently opened in your name. 5.) File a police report. 6.) Place a fraud alert on your credit report.
