Fred says: It’s Church time across the land. Bells are ringing in various communities inviting people to come and worship their God. Many people will be flocking to the church of their choice in anticipation of singing and praising their creator. It will be a time of fellowship with God and with each other. Many of these churches are communities within themselves. The pastor and his or her congregations often communicate or fellowship with each other throughout the rest of the week. Sad to say but the Church is under fire today. We live in a day and age where bad is becoming good and good is becoming bad. Where other religions are tolerated and even promoted while the church is under ridicule and attack. The church’s statement of faith is being held under scrutiny by non-believers of many different faiths. Because the church believes certain practices today are sin many of the adherences of these practices come against the church or even try and join the church to get these teachings changed. Many churches have givin in and have adopted these sinful beliefs so that they can appeal to the world at large. The groups that stay faithful to what they believe are solid Bible teachings are ridiculed and accused of being out dated, fanatical or of being a cult. Because of this the church has shrunk in population because it is no longer cool to be a church goer. But as much as the church has sunk into the background of society it is still attacked by a society determined to get rid of the only element that brings guilt to them for their sin. Despite all the ridicule and the attacks the Church still goes on. There are still many who wake up on a Sunday morning and get all dressed up and go to church to worship and praise their Lord and Savior. They still believe that no matter how much the world changes their Savior still remains “The same yesterday, today and forever.” The attitudes and actions of the world mean nothing to these people. They are a determined lot. Determined to keep believing in what “Thus sayeth the Lord!” They will go through whatever fire they have to go through because they know that they are not alone in that fire because they are serving a God who will never leave them nor forsake them and that he means it when he says “For I am the LORD, I change not.” No amount of persecution, ridicule or attacks will change their minds because they really believe in what they are doing. When the fires of hell burn at the church doorsteps the believer will run the gauntlet and go in because this is where they go and meet with the one who saved them and sets them free from the powers of sin. Nothing other than death will stop the true believer from worshipping their God. Remember this the next time you see people going into church on a Sunday morning.
