Frederick H. Platt Jr., 44, of Racine, Wis., died at the scene of where he landed Sunday evening in Yorkville, Wis., but the other diver, Neil A. Kulman, 27, sustained minor injuries after landing in a tree, the Daily Herald reports. Platt was an experienced military parachutist and both men were experienced skydivers, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The mens chutes collided between 800 and 1,200 feet in the air, the newspaper reports. Platt enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1988 and would go on to become an officer commissioned in the Navy Special Warfare Command. He currently was employed with the Department of Homeland Security, according to his obituary. He received his bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University and his masters degree from Webster University. He also attended the Naval War College, according to his obituary. Platt was married to Stacy Lynn Hux last year and the couple was expecting their first child, according to the obituary. Platt is also survived by four children who live in Gurnee children, Collin, Walker, Brooklyn and Kendalyn.
