In this class, regardless of the student’s starting level of ability, they will begin with character building and scene breakdown; beat by beat, line by line uncovering who that character is, what motivates them and what they are striving for. The student will be brought, step by step, through the process of finding the essence of a given character and how to then make it organically three-dimensional from that essence. Bad habits, over-acting, fears and insecurities are all dispelled by the actor truly knowing what they are doing, why they are doing it and how they arrived at that character when they do. The use of imagery, personal objects and improvisation, rather than painful memories, is explored and the student taught to channel those emotions into and through the character. The students will have many opportunities to create a fully realized character or scene, and we will work until you have achieved a truly major and personal accomplishment as an actor.
