Free congenital heart surgery for poor children at Fortis Escorts Delhi Srinagar June 25th: Poor children below the age of 18 years, belonging to BPL families and suffering from congenital heart disease can now undergo free heart surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute New Delhi thanks to Rotary Clubs of J&K. In case patients desire arrangements can be tied up for preliminary screening at Srinagar as well. Final screening of the patients will be held on 21st July at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu where eminent Pediatric and Congenital Heart Specialist Dr. Krishna S. Iyer will screen the patients. Children finally selected will be operated at Delhi. The travelling expenses upto Delhi and local expenditure including boarding and lodging at Delhi will have to be borne by the patient. However, the cost of open heart surgery will be met by Rotary under their scheme called “Gift of Life”.
