Freedom of Speech VS Freedom of Religion ? After the attacks in - TopicsExpress

Freedom of Speech VS Freedom of Religion ? After the attacks in Paris and after many people supported Parisians and the french against that massacre, things have changed since yesterday morning. The debate is on again on what Charlie Hebdo should do or not... This morning another french newspaper Le canard enchaînée also received a death threat: We will not only kill you but cut you with axes. Last Friday, Saudi Arabia condemned one of its citizen of blasphemy (same accusations that Charlie Hebdo) and he got 50 lashes and will have another round of 50 ones the coming Friday. France is a democracy with its flaws and its qualities, there are certain principles that it will not bend for which is freedom of expression. What is sacred for a communist, a Muslim, a liberal, a Zoroastrian, a Jew, a Christian, a Buddhist, etc might not be sacred for me. So if one citizen feels offended or insulted whatsoever by anything that is said, written, sang or even drew then there is the law for that. Charlie Hebdo was sewed many times by Christian Organisations, Muslim one and if I am not wrong even Jewish. So get over it and do not read Charlie Hebdo if you dont like it (I have also my personal opinion on this magazine that I will not share here). Worst case scenario draw a satiric cartoon on Charlie... ;-) Just watch the way that cinema treats religion and ethnicity in France in 2015. (more than 12 million viewers in theaters)
