Freedom of religion: My thoughts on this: I find myself reading and trying to understand why we have such a problem in this great United States of one’s right to his or her religion. Let’s start with atheism ones belief of no religion or belief of no God therefore you have no stance on freedom of religion because you have no religion to defend. So why is it that some one that has no belief can tell someone that does that he or she can’t do this? Is that not an infringement upon the person that’s praying, worshiping or just using a symbol to identify his or her religion? Every day we here of someone under the heat lamp because they prayed at school, put a cross in the yard, praying before a sporting event, or even placing the Ten Commandments in front of the court house, a teacher wearing a cross around his/her neck or a child wearing a t shirt that proclaims that there God is real. By telling someone that they may not do these things is a true violation of our first amendment right to freedom of religion for the freedom is for the one exercising their right not one in the audience there to watch, see, or to observe. The way I see it if your offended you can leave or if leaving is not an option then you can stick your fingers in your ears and close your eyes. The problem is we have way too many people telling us that we cannot exercise our freedom because of political correctness but that in its self is the wall that Thomas Jefferson talked about. Religion will never be political correct because there is separation between church and state therefore there will be no common ground.
