Freedom of speech is the most important freedom in any democracy, without which it would be impossible to reach at political truths in public life. Over the years, the scope of these restrictions has expanded through various criminal laws. Our fundamental right to free speech now stands undermined and the quality of our intellectual discourse narrowed. The threat of harassment by mobs and being jailed looms over our heads at all times. Creative freedoms and fair criticism should not be held hostage to unreasonable restrictions on our freedom to speak and express ourselves.
