Fresh Start is in need of some assistance. They are planning an employment workshop that involves helping the residents learn about the job application process. They need volunteers in the following areas to staff "stations" (see below): Tuesday August 13, 2013 from 7PM- 9PM Tuesday August 20, 2013 from 7PM- 9PM Stations A. Job Applications (at dining room table) 3- 4 volunteers Goal: Resident leaves with a completed sample application and tips on how to list experience and skills B. Interviewing Station 1: (at dining room table) 3-4 volunteers Goal: Resident leaves with tips on how to answer commonly asked interview questions and how to highlight skills, answer questions about limited work history or legal charges, etc C. Dress for Success: (in Daisy) 2- 3 volunteers Goal: Resident leaves with tips on what to wear- or not wear- during each step of the job search process (picking up application, interview, etc) D. Resumes and Cover Letters (by computers) 3-4 volunteers Goal: Resident leaves with at least a draft of a resume. E. Interviewing Station 2: (at conference room table and in 2nd staff office) 2 volunteers Goal: Resident participates in a mock interview as it is a regular interview (dressed appropriately, provides a sample application, etc.) F. Job Search Resources (at table in entryway) 2 volunteers? (may not need be needed here) Goal: Provide (or remind) residents of local agencies that offer assistance for job search related activities and for job skills. Other possible stations? - Identifying skills and strengths (often difficult for our residents) - Legal Q&A, especially to answer questions about legal history/criminal charges - General tips? Such as keeping things organized, getting everyone’s name when you interview, sending thank you cards, etc Fresh Start is also interested in providing their clients with incentives for participating in the different stations.
