Fresh Trouble Strikes Kayode The turbulent transfer saga rocking under-20 national team, Flying Eagles striker to this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey, Olarewaju Kayode is yet to come to an end, as the lanky lad failed to beat Tuesday’s transfer deadline to join Maccabi Netanya of Israel. Despite several boasts from the player and his representatives that the Israeli is signed, sealed and delivered, latest information has it that ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’ivoire have again pout a clog in the wheel of his progress, as the Abidjan-based club insist Kayode still has a contract with them. Although Netanya stated last week that they had sealed a deal with Kayode and the player went on to dare ASEC, the Ivorian club have apparently won the battle once again, as they have refused to release the striker’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC). ASEC insist their contract with the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation runs till November 30 next year, but Kayode and his agent maintain that he is no longer contracted to the Ivorian club. Following an initial pronouncement on the matter last week, world football governing body, FIFA are expected to make a final rule on this transfer logjam after both the player and Israeli club Netanya reported the matter to the global body. MTNFootball has now gathered that Kayode has signed a contract with Netanya till May 2014 but, though he is currently training with the club, he cannot feature for them in official game as his transfer papers are still with ASEC.
