Fri 18th-Sun 20th October: ONWARDS TO BLANTYRE... From Jonathan Groves: After a hectic week at Wingate School, we were up early to catch the 7am AXA coach from Lilongwe to Blantyre. We were met on arrival in Blantyre by Pastor Connex Ijalasi and his younger brother Praise Ijalasi. We had lunch with Connex and settled into the house of SIM missionaries Ian and Lindsay Farrimond - our base until Monday morning. Late on Friday afternoon I met with Mike Beresford, Director of Zambesi Mission (who was in Blantyre at the same time as me), together with the ZM Field Director Simon Chikwana and Projects Officer Rose Chirwa. Sat 19th was a social interlude with friends and Avail missionaries Robbie and lesley Beaton and their six children Rachel, Colin, Hope-May, Jessie, Yamika and Michael. The day began with 3+ sets of tennis under a Malawian sun followed by a BBQ where hopes, plans and vision for the future was shared both ways. On Sun 20th, I preached at the 7.15am English service at Chilomoni ZEC, then joined the rest of the family at Blantyre Community Church. Late in the day, Ruth and I met with Connex and Synolia Ijalasi to finalize the teaching schedule for our J-Life Youth Camp for 25 people in Mulanje District which starts on Mon 21st until Thu 24th.
