Friday, 23 January 2015 Day 5 To sleep, or not to sleep... - TopicsExpress

Friday, 23 January 2015 Day 5 To sleep, or not to sleep... that is the question!! Here, at the Ritz Carlton, the wake up comes anytime during the night, with last night’s lucky spin of the wheel coming to a stop at 3:45 this morning!!! Good Lord... even the roosters are still asleep at that ungodly hour!!! Needless to say, I had to go through the ritual of donating blood, breathing hard, and of having my arm almost snapped in two by an over-inflated blood pressure cuff. In my semi-conscious state, I may even have confessed to killing JFK, but I can’t quite remember. It was a beautiful day here today weather wise. A short time ago, we witnessed a spectacular sunset, so perhaps we will see another fine day tomorrow? If we do, it will be short lived, because the weather gurus are calling for up to 30 cm of the white stuff on Sunday!! I’m just glad that I don’t have to shovel... LOL. I also had the pleasure of a visit from Bonnie’s cousin Randy and his daughter today. He was visiting his daughter in Fredericton, and they included a visit to see me in their trip to Saint John. Now... here’s one for all of you who know Bonnie... She was offered the opportunity to go shopping with them, and she declined!! You heard that right folks... the Queen of Shopping turned down a chance to break loose in a city where she’s not known!! The fare here just keeps getting better and better. Breakfast this morning consisted of a slice of soggy brown toast, some dried up yellow stuff that was supposed to pass for scrambled eggs, a juice and a bottle of water. Again, no hot beverages. The only thing that was on my tray from what I ordered yesterday for today was the juice. Lunch was even better!! Everyone else got served, but alas, when the food cart stopped at my door, the trays were all gone!! A quick call to the kitchen revealed that they had forgotten me, so... they sent up some diced chicken disguised at chicken cacciatore, sans rice or noodles. A somewhat tasty concoction but without any starch, it was less than filling. Fast forward to supper. And you’ll never, not in a million years, guess what they forgot??? My supper!!! Luckily, there were some extra meals on the cart, so I at least got to have something. Both Bonnie and I waited with bated breath to see what was beneath the cover of the plate... drum roll please.... Yes folks, it was a dog’s breakfast being passed off as vegetarian stew!!! The server checked with the kitchen, and was told that I am showing in their files as being out for the weekend... so I can hardly wait to see what delicacies are on the cart tomorrow morning!!! Thankfully, I had some fruit in the basket that Bonnie’s cousin had brought me, so I managed to save me from another day of culinary surprises!!! And oh yes... I also found out that the catheter that was put in my chest has to stay there for 100 days!! For crying out loud, Noah was only in the ark for 40 days and 40 nights!! It’s going to be the May 24th weekend before this thing comes out!!! The surprises associated with this disease just keep getting better and better!!! And no folks... I am not complaining. I’m just trying to make light of some dark days, and I hope that you can all see through my rhetoric!! Writing these blogs at least gives me something to do with my time, and as long as you don’t get sick of hearing from me, I will continue to send my rants your way!! Have a great weekend everyone!! I may hold off until Monday to update you further, so if you don’t hear from me until then, you will know that I plan on being back here next week!! Hugs and blessings to all... Terry
