Friday, December 12, 2014 --- PROMISES Believers can be absolutely certain of God’s promises because He cannot lie. “So God has given us both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can take new courage, for we can hold on to his promise with confidence. This confidence is like a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain of heaven into Gods inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the line of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:18-20 Promises! Promises! Promises! People make promises all the time. We promise each other this and that. We promise God this and that. However, it seems we people must be really forgetful because most promises are quickly forgotten. Sad but true! What were your New Year’s Resolutions? When someone wants to really emphasize his or her promise, they will take an oath. Courts used to use a Bible and people would swear to tell the truth with their right hand on a Bible. I guess people just swear now, maybe swearing on a Bible was too intimidating! God makes promises too, and just to assure us that He will do everything He promised, He swears upon His own Name. Since God cannot lie, we can be certain that every promise will be fulfilled! He will save us, He will heal us, Jesus is coming again, heaven is waiting when we die, and a thousand other wonderful promises will all come to pass. We can patiently persevere and work out our salvation with fear and trembling, our future is bright and sure. God says so! Father, thank you for revealing Yourself and Your will to us. Thank you for faith to believe. You are good and merciful, we look forward to knowing You more and more. Please reveal Yourself to our family and friends who have not yet received Jesus and the amazing promises You have given, in His Name we pray, amen.
