Friday Fun Fact: Soapstone Hill is one of the highest elevations - TopicsExpress

Friday Fun Fact: Soapstone Hill is one of the highest elevations in Quabbin. It is in the Town of Petersham, and overlooks the Reservoir. It is accessible by Quabbin Gate 36, located at the Federated Women’s Club State Forest. The hill is 891 feet at the highest point, which gives spectacular views. Take 122 South from Orange; the State Forest will be on your right. After parking at the T intersection, walk east to the shore of Quabbin Reservoir. At a fork in the road, go either direction; both roads lead to shore walks. The one to the right heads north, eventually connecting with Gate 35. The one to the left heads south; it turns inland after about ½ mile, and when it splits, the left-hand extension heads up Soapstone Hill. Peak Expeditions will be headed out to Soapstone Hill this morning for a hike. Meet at the store at 9:30 to join them! Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
