Friday Gig Guide Yes....... Friday has arrived and we cannot wait to get out and catch some music, share a beer or two and have a great night out. If youre in the same boat and want some inspiration then heres our Friday gig guide: Bishop Auckland 1. The Merry Monk with Rock Pit is in for a treat tonight as one of our favourite bands Feed the Bear provide tonights entertainment and what a canny night itll be. A great set of musicians playing tracks from the very classic period of rock including Free, Ziggy Stardust, Rush, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and more. (see our Feed the Bear Photo Album for pics and review.). All followed as usual with an excellent rock disco to take you into the small hours - £1.00 on the door. Boldon 1. Whole Hog and 2 hogs (2 Hogs) are performing at Sleepers for a lighter acoustic version of Whole Hog with tracks from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bowie and more. Bradford 1. A little plug for our Gigit family member Ezee Goin who are playing at The Kings Arms in Heaton. An excellent live act playing rock and roll, rockabilly, rock with tracks from the likes of Roy Orbison, The Kinks, The Animals, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more. Well worth checking out. Byker 1. An evening of great music is in store at The Lord Clyde at Byker tonight with 3 bands/artists on stage for your entertainment, starting at 8.30pm with Rob Waters; at 9.15pm we have Gingersnap and the Style Pie and finally at 10.00pm Back into the Wild. Chester le Street 1. If you fancy some rock and roll and rockabilly then head down to the Red Lion and catch Troubleshooters for a night of toe tapping, finger clicking excellence. 2. A great night of West Coast rock is in store tonight at The Market Tavern as West Coast Band hit the stage to bring you tracks from the likes of The Eagles, Neil Young, Jackson Browns, The Byrds to name but a few. Consett 1. For an evening of classic rock and metal then head down to Stephs The club that rocks for their new Friday night disco with Scott The Wizard Jacobs. Durham 1. Angel Inn is being rocked to its foundations tonight from 7.30pm as 3 bands provide an awesome line up of entertainment. Bands include Fall of the V (think rise against mixed with Killswitch engage), Avast Narwhals (groove laden heavy rock) & Blacklines (Nine Inch Nails being but*****ed by Queens Of The Stone Age. A lot of entertainment lined up and a cracking night it sounds too. 2. Snake Oil are hitting Big Jug (cannot believe we just wrote that) tonight to bring a cracking night of eclectic music from the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, John Lennon and more. Crawcrook 1. If you havent seen American Girl and you are any where near the Rising Sun, then we suggest you change your plans and get down to watch a superb gig. A show within a show as Lara Miranda Dubov grabs you by the collar and captivates you until you drop. Music from the likes of Pat Benetar, Cher, Cranberries, Kings of Leon and a shed full more will leave you with a huge grin on your face. Gateshead 1. The Central starts in monthly BritPop night, which will take place each month on the second Friday with all the classic tracks from British Indie/Pop music scene with records from the likes of Blur, Supergrass, Ash, Shed Seven and similar will be played all night. 2. The Three Tuns have one of the best bands around on tonight as Bessie and the Zinc Buckets bring you a fantastic set of rockabilly mayhem. If you can get there, then do so, as you will be entertained to your very core. Gosforth 1. The CosmicSpace Pirates are playing at The Three Mile Inn tonight with music from the likes of The Zutons, Beastie Boys, Manic Street Preachers and many more. Definitely worth calling in to see the band as a cracking night will be had. 2. Heading to The Blacksmiths Arms tonight are Road Runners to bring some classic rock tracks from the likes of The Who, The Rolling Stones, Bad Company, Lynyrd Skynyrd and a lot more chucked in for good measure. Guisbrough 1. Thorns are playing at The 3 Fiddles tonight, with music from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Toto, Bryan Adams, Cheap Trick and several more thrown into the ring for your entertainment. Definitely well worth checking out if you can get there. Hetton le Hole 1. The New Inn have Blackbird on tonight playing music from the likes of Kings of Leon, The Police, Billy Idol, Chuck Berry to name but a few. Sounds like itll be a canny night out and worth dropping in for if you can. 2. A superb night is in store at Hetton Social CLUB tonight with the entertaining Gypsy Eyes providing the music. Expect tracks from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Beatles and more. Houghton le Spring 1. A night of cracking music from the excellent Berry Burgess is in store tonight at The Beehive Inn as youll be entertained to the max by a great artist. 2. Buffalos Rock are being indoctrinated into the maelstrom that is The Ballbreakers tonight for an evening of up close, personal, in your face classic rock from one the finest bands there is. Made up of seasoned hairiness, The ballbreakers will leave you with bleeding ears and cheesy grins, but a desire to see them a gain and again. Howdon 1. The Spiral Kings hit the Rosehill Tavern tonight to bring some great entertainment and music from across the ages and genres with tracks from he likes of Tear for Fears, INXS, Bob Marley, Primal Scream and a hell of a lot more. A great night out will be had, and you should definitely catch the gig if you can. Kendal 1. We hope that someone picks this up over the Pennines as there is one hell of a gig at Bootleggers Bar tonight as the awesome Damaged Inc. provide one of the best gigs youll ever get to see, with all the classic Metallica tracks being rattled out as if it was Metallica on stage. Simply brilliant and a MUST SEE GIG. Killingworth 1. Fickle Lily are providing tonights entertainment at Thestationpub Killingworth. Good time Rock n Roll Swing Blues ..with a hint of Ska is in store for anyone who can get along for the gig, and what a canny night out it sounds. 2. If you fancy something a little more ear bending and up tempo then The Whodlums are playing at The Plough - THE WHODLUMS are the North of England’s leading Who tribute act, Endorsed in 2010 by Roger Daltrey, bringing the excitement and power of a Who live show to venues across the region. Newcastle 1. The Star Inn, Newcastle upon Tyne is having an evening of punk tonight as Toxic take to the stage to entertain you. Expect tracks from the likes of The Clash, UK Subs, Rancid and loads more for you to pogo too or scream you lungs out singing along. Be a cracking night so get along if you can. Newton Aycliffe 1. Its Friday night Open Mic/Buskers night at Turbinia Rock Gigs, tonight with guest presenter Michael Rolf. So if you fancy something a little different to a band, then this is ideal or if you fancy giving the entertainment business a shot, why not pop down to one of the best live music venues and give it a go. Seahouses 1. A fabulous night of entertainment is in store at The Schooner tonight as Tempest take to the stage to entertain you with music from the likes of Blondie, Heart, Thin Lizzy, Stevie Nicks and more. South Shields It appears that South Shields is the place to be tonight as the place is positively jumping with live music: 1. An absolute corking gig tonight at Trocaderos as this machine hit the stage to bring some of the best music youll hear and a lively entertaining set of tracks from the likes of AC/DC, Poison, Cinderella, Rolling Stones and more. One of this weekends MUST SEE gigs, music played at its very best. Four Letter Word will be providing music from across the ages tonight at The Marine. Playing music from the 60s through to the 00s Four Letter Word are one of those bands that you just have to get up and dance to and theyre definitely worth checking out. 3. The Chord Thieves are at The Marsden Inn bringing a huge variety of music with tracks from the likes of Billy Joel, Mamas and Papas right through to Kings of Leon and Stereophonics. 4. Trimmers have LA Freeway playing tonight for a cracking evening of well played music from the likes of The eagles, Steely Dan, Tom Petty, Allman Brothers and more. 5. A change to tonights entertainment at The Office as Yellowstone replace Ma Kellys Boys (due to an illness and we wish a speedy recovery), but what a replacement Alan Dacre has pulled off as Yellowstone are young, energetic band playing classic rock tracks from the likes of Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes, Foo Fighters, The Who and more. Sounds like a cracking night as always at The Office. Stanley 1. The fantastic Hydrogen are playing at The Earl Grey in West Kyo. This lively trio play rock covers from across the era and genres including AC/DC, Neil Young, Rolling Stones and Blondie, to name but a few/ 2. Scott Keirs arrives at The Ox Inn tonight to provide an entertaining night acoustic set. promoting his new solo work and particularly his forthcoming album The Boy who Didnt Sleep from which his new single The Heart of a Good Man is taken. Well seasoned and known as the front man for Redwings, this will be a great night of music and one to catch if you can. Sunderland 1. A night a superb music is in store at Steels Social Club as The Force arrive to provide tonights music. A cracking night of original music from one of the North East best rock bands. 2. The Mountain Daisy welcome back The Rattlers for an evening of classic rock covers that we all love, so get your lungs tuned and dancing shoes on as youre going to need them. Whickham 1. The impressive Tubesnake are at The Crown tonight featuring music from the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Bowie and more. We havent seen them yet, but reports from Gigit family members say they are well worth goignt to see. Whitby 1. If anyone is down around Whitby then we would certainly recommend heading to The Resolution to catch Brian Wilson. An excellent evening of entertainment is always in guaranteed. 2. Or alternatively head to The Elsinore to catch Trilogy TheBand for an evening of entertaining music. Whitley Bay 1. Get Carter are playing The Fat Ox tonight to bring a whistle stop tour of the best of UK music and a lively night of entertainment to boot. We hope you have a cracking night out wherever you get to and remember .... Live music and the Venues that put it on...... Please Use Them or Lose Them.
