Friday May 23, 2014: Molas and jellies and dolphins, oh my! What a fun day! We started the trip with a send-off from four inshore bottlenose dolphins. Little did we know that later in the trip wed run into about 60 of their offshore bottlenose friends. We also saw 500 common dolphins, two ocean sunfish or mola mola, and a large purple-striped jellyfish that appeared to have been snacked on earlier in the day. The most important discovery of the trip is actually something that guests didnt see. From the wheelhouse through binoculars, Captain Steve saw two HUGE spouts in the distance several miles offshore. We traveled to the area and waited for more than 25 minutes but never saw the spouts again. While we didnt see a whale on our trip, the good news is, theres SOMETHING BIG waiting out there ;) So grab your luckiest penny, four-leaf clover, or whichever charm you choose and join us this weekend to find those big BLUES!
